Image Plan One, Two and Three

Image plan one

For the front cover and double page spread I will be using two artists who will be a part of a band. These two artists will be Shona and Paige. I have chosen both of these girls as I think that they would both best suit my magazines genre. I have also chosen these two girls as they are similar in some ways yet different in others. The genre of my magazine is indie rock; therefore with the use of mise en scene I will give both my artists this sort of style and look. For my front cover, in order to gratify both genders I want these two girls to look very bold, attractive, stylish, sexy and confident. By making the girls look sexy and attractive will gratify the male audience with entertainment. However it will gratify the female audience with personal identity, this could be because they will see these women as models, due to their style. Thy female audience might look up to these girls and be attracted to their style and confidence and see them as a model of behaviour. Through their body language I want to show confidence and the relationship between the two artists. I want Shona to be standing tall, this will show confidence. To show the relationship between the two girls, I will have Shona facing forwards directly to the camera and Paige to the side facing Shona, head turned towards the camera and leaning on Shona. This makes it look as if Paige is leaning on Shona for support and that there are a group and working together. The facial expression of the two girls will be very neutral, almost as if they are quite moody. Their makeup will stand out, quite dark and bold like the stereo type rock look. Shona will be wearing red lipstick as it is bold and stands out; also the colour red represents power and sexiness. She will be wearing a leather skirt as this resembles the leather biker jackets worn by bikers and popular rock band members. I do not want the girls to look trashy or slut, but seductive and sexy in a rock style. Paige will be wearing suede red leggings, this will make her stand out and, like Shona’s lipstick, and the colour has the same representation. I only want to use two props to show the role both of the girls play within the band, one a guitarist and the other the singer. Shona will be the guitarist; therefore she will be the one holding the guitar. Paige will be the lead singer; therefore she will be holding a microphone. All of these types of mise en scene will help to show and represent my genre. It will not matter where I will be taking the image because I will be removing the background regardless, however because I will be unable to remove the guitar from the music room I will have to take the image there. The only risks when taking this image would be from the props used and from there footwear. Both girls will be wearing heels, though they both are able to walk in them, and they will only be standing in the image, the girls will remove footwear when walking to were the image will be taken and then putting the footwear back on to take the photo. The guitar that will be used in the image could also be a hazard as it is quite heavy, due to this Shona will not be holding the guitar in her hands but it will simply be standing up with her support. The shot will be taken in two shot as there will two people in the image. It is also in long shot because both artists will have their whole bodies in the frame.

Image plan two
This image idea had formed from an image I had seen on another magazine used on a double page spread. This image will be placed on my content page. It will include two people, a boy and girl; this makes the image a two shot image. I have used both genders to appeal to a wider range of audience. The group will be called the sparks and I am using Julia and Fill. Similar to the image above, I want to use different positioning of characters in my image and also have those facing different places. Julia will be the main focus of the image as she will be standing closest to the camera (medium close up) and staring directly at the camera. This will make the reader feel involved by gratifying them with personal identity. Fill will be standing behind Julia further from the camera, though Julia is closer and in more of the image fill will look taller and more of his body will be in the image making him look more powerful. Both people will be wearing casual clothing as I want them to look relaxed. This is because when the audience looks at this image they will see that these people are just ordinary people like themselves. Fills hands will be in his pockets making him looked relaxed and calm. I wanted a nature background; therefore I want the image to be taken outside. Because I wanted the colours to be quite dull like the one in the double page image, I will put the photo in black and white. This will also widen my range of effects for images as most of the image I will be using will be in colour.

Image plan three

My fourth image idea is to have someone playing live. A lot of content pages include live shots that show the artist performing while the image has been taken.  I will be using my uncle for this image as he best suites the genre of my magazine, also I wanted to use different age ranges and genders. I want the image to be of him sitting down playing a guitar. He will be focused on the guitar as if he is performing while the image is taken and not giving direct address because that would make it seem as if he was prepared and focused on the shot being taken. He will be wearing casual clothing because some of the indie style is very relaxed and this is how I want him to look, similar to this image. However, he will be more focused on the guitar with his head down; the image will not be taken in black and white but with colour instead. Also my model will not have facial hair. The image will be taken so that it looks more live, this will be done by adding an audience, stage and a microphone, if I am able to get these items. My image will also include a guitar as prop.
