Colour used in my magazine
I have chosen to use red and yellow for my colour scheme.
I have used red because, not only was it the colour that was most popular on my questionnaire, but also because it is used in many other magazines, like Q and NME. Red as different conotations:
I have used red because, not only was it the colour that was most popular on my questionnaire, but also because it is used in many other magazines, like Q and NME. Red as different conotations:
· Red is the colour of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love.
· Red is a very emotionally intense colour. It enhances human metabolism, increases respiration rate, and raises blood pressure.
· It has very high visibility that’s why stop signs, stoplights, and fire equipment are usually painted red.
· In heraldry, red is used to indicate courage. It is the colour found in many national flags.
· Red brings text and images to the foreground.
· Use it as an accent colour to stimulate people to make quick decisions; it is a perfect colour for 'Buy Now' or 'Click Here' buttons on Internet banners and websites.
· Red is widely used to indicate danger (high voltage signs, traffic lights).
· This colour is also commonly associated with energy, so you can use it when promoting energy drinks, games, cars, items related to sports and high physical activity.
Colours like red, blue and black were found most popular, however I wanted to also include a bright colour on the front page of my magazine to help attract the reader. I have chosen to use yellow as it is a bright colour that is eye catching. I found that the colour went well with the layout, genre and style of the magazine.
· Yellow is the colour of sunshine. It's associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy.
· Yellow produces a warming effect, arouses cheerfulness, stimulates mental activity, and generates muscle energy.
· Yellow is often associated with food.
· Bright, pure yellow is an attention getter that’s why taxicabs are painted this colour.
· When overused, yellow may have a disturbing influence; it is known that babies cry more in yellow rooms.
· Yellow is seen before other colours when placed against black; this combination is often used to issue a warning.
· In heraldry, yellow indicates honour and loyalty. Later the meaning of yellow was connected with cowardice.
· Yellow is sometimes used to evoke pleasant, cheerful feelings.
· Yellow is very effective for attracting attention, so use it to highlight the most important elements of your design.
· Yellow is an unstable and spontaneous colour, so avoid using yellow if you want to suggest stability and safety.
· Light yellow tends to disappear into white, so it usually needs a dark colour to highlight it.
· Shades of yellow are visually unappealing because they lose cheerfulness and become dingy.
Dull (dingy) yellow represents caution, decay, sickness, and jealousy.
Light yellow is associated with intellect, freshness, and joy.

Image Plan One, Two and Three
Image plan one
For the front cover and double page spread I will be using two artists who will be a part of a band. These two artists will be Shona and Paige. I have chosen both of these girls as I think that they would both best suit my magazines genre. I have also chosen these two girls as they are similar in some ways yet different in others. The genre of my magazine is indie rock; therefore with the use of mise en scene I will give both my artists this sort of style and look. For my front cover, in order to gratify both genders I want these two girls to look very bold, attractive, stylish, sexy and confident. By making the girls look sexy and attractive will gratify the male audience with entertainment. However it will gratify the female audience with personal identity, this could be because they will see these women as models, due to their style. Thy female audience might look up to these girls and be attracted to their style and confidence and see them as a model of behaviour. Through their body language I want to show confidence and the relationship between the two artists. I want Shona to be standing tall, this will show confidence. To show the relationship between the two girls, I will have Shona facing forwards directly to the camera and Paige to the side facing Shona, head turned towards the camera and leaning on Shona. This makes it look as if Paige is leaning on Shona for support and that there are a group and working together. The facial expression of the two girls will be very neutral, almost as if they are quite moody. Their makeup will stand out, quite dark and bold like the stereo type rock look. Shona will be wearing red lipstick as it is bold and stands out; also the colour red represents power and sexiness. She will be wearing a leather skirt as this resembles the leather biker jackets worn by bikers and popular rock band members. I do not want the girls to look trashy or slut, but seductive and sexy in a rock style. Paige will be wearing suede red leggings, this will make her stand out and, like Shona’s lipstick, and the colour has the same representation. I only want to use two props to show the role both of the girls play within the band, one a guitarist and the other the singer. Shona will be the guitarist; therefore she will be the one holding the guitar. Paige will be the lead singer; therefore she will be holding a microphone. All of these types of mise en scene will help to show and represent my genre. It will not matter where I will be taking the image because I will be removing the background regardless, however because I will be unable to remove the guitar from the music room I will have to take the image there. The only risks when taking this image would be from the props used and from there footwear. Both girls will be wearing heels, though they both are able to walk in them, and they will only be standing in the image, the girls will remove footwear when walking to were the image will be taken and then putting the footwear back on to take the photo. The guitar that will be used in the image could also be a hazard as it is quite heavy, due to this Shona will not be holding the guitar in her hands but it will simply be standing up with her support. The shot will be taken in two shot as there will two people in the image. It is also in long shot because both artists will have their whole bodies in the frame.
