Here are ideas of the font I want to use for my school name on the front cover of my magazine. I have chosen the first one because it stands out the most.

My school magazine will be aimed towards students and parents. The name of my school will be called Walton High School. My school colours will be grey and blue. I want the front cover to be very positive. It will include a large background main image, small separate images, information of what will be included in the magazine, my logo, school name, etc.  There will not be a lot of text on the front cover, it will be very basic. The front cover image will be the main focus of the front page and show the success of students.

My first idea for my magazine is that i want to have my front cover image to show an achievement of a student, teacher or of the school.  This will promote my school and get people wanting to read my magazine because the image immediately shows that the school is succeeding. Also this would be good if a parent is looking to for a school for their child to go to or it might even persuade them to move their child from their current school to this school. This idea for a magazine front cover is to have a girl holding a reward, report card or a piece of work. She will be smiling like she is proud of what she has done. Somewhere on the page will be a slogan “Students continue to achieve” or even “students grades continue to soar”.

Another idea I have is that the magazine front cover could be focus on other things thank school work, like sports, art and other after school activities. I want the front cover image to be of a boy in his sports uniform holding a medal, certificate or some sort of reward to show that he has achieved. This will show people that the school has many other things to offer students. There will be a part in the newspaper talking about all the new afterschool activities the school is running, and an interview of the child who won the reward.  Another could be of a boy outside holding a basketball or some sort of sports equipment.

Action plan

Action plan:

Tonight- I will research school/college magazines (including contents page) to give me ideas on how i want my mock up to look like, then iw ill annotate some of these magazines.

Tomorrow- take photographs that i could use for my magazine.

Saturday- I will explain my choices, mise-en-scene, lighting ect of the photographs i chose.

Sunday- I will create my mock up cover and the contents page.

Tuesday- I will annotate my main image and 3 other origional images, explain.

Saturday- changed mock up in response to feedback and make evaluation.

Preliminary brief

Using DTP and an image manipulation program, produce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead. Additionally candidates must produce a DTP mock-up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate their grasp of the program.
